Hi all,
I'm hoping someone can help with this, a while back the ABS light came on and stayed on. After running some tests using Vagcom and speaking to a few people it seems as though i had a a faulty ABS pump.
I contacted Breeze to be told it would cost over £1,000 to repair, obviously i looked at alternatives, i found ecu-testing.com and sent the pump to them. They said they found a fault and repaired it.
The problem i am having now is that the pump has been reconnected to the car and the brakes have been bled, there is no more air bubbles coming through however there is still a bit of a spongy pedal (not good enough to pass MOT). The garage say they have done all they can do and are convinced its a faulty pump, to me it sounds like an air lock, the only thing that can cause a spongy pedal is air!. I know the fault that was there originally has been fixed as the light no longer appears when driven, and ecu-testing say they do not actually take the pump apart.
If you cap off the lines before the pump you get a hard pedal, as soon as it goes back through the pump spongy pedal again! A new master cylinder has been fitted also as the old one was shot.
Has anyone heard of this problem before or know what i can do to resolve it? The garage are all out of ideas after using vag com etc while pressure bleeding it is still no better.
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers
