Hi all.
I have a 2.5 v6 tdi and I'm trying to change the oil and filter. I thought it would be simple, just remove the filter and sump plug wait a while then replace filter and plug and refill with oil. But no. Only about 3/4 of the amount the dealer told me (10 litres) would come out, did! I must admit I did not check the oil level before I drained it, but I only managed to get the same amount back in (to the top mark, after running it to fill the filter). Am I missing something or is the dealer wrong?
I would be grateful for any advice.:beerchug:

10 Litres seems very high for a sump capacity!

I would have thought 6/7 would be about the right amount.

10 is way to much, dealler told me just under 6litres,and thats what came out of mine. obviously you will always have a half litre or so left clinging to the chamber .id go back and ask for proof that thats its oil capacity.

The dealer is wrong, there is not many engines that take 10L. He probably did not has any 1L bottles so sold you 2 5L 1s.

4.7 L of oil go in to the v6 tdi engine ! Any more than that and you will clog the catalyst...Maybe he thought you own a v10 or v12 tdi !

10l is way too much. My Audi takes just under 5l, I was amazed that my T5 took 7l, never mind 10l ! No chance of 10l being in there mate.

Thanks very much, I suppose the dealer wanted to sell the extra oil at 40 odd pounds a go. At least I have it for next time.
Thanks again to you all.
