Assuming I were to remap my 05 plate 2.0 TDi A4 Avant.............can the clutch handle going from 210 ft lbs torque to 310 ft lbs ???

I often feel like my clutch is slipping @ present but it's not. I am just not accustomed to the diesel turbo spooling so quickly over a short rev range.

Any feedback appreciated ;)

Mine has been superchipped for 21k miles with no problems. As long as you dont cane it with lots of hard, standing starts I dont think you should have any problems.

no they cant and dealers have been flooded with premature clutch wear on b7,comparing this to b6 i would say there is a higher chance of failure but b7 pd engine clutches have failed early anyway but remapping will shorten the life of the clutch if its driven hard

Surely mapping a PD140 only takes the figures up to that of the standard PD170 though?

Thanks for the replies fellas.............what sort of figures have you been making ?

I dont intend to do any hard starts - just looking for mid-range punch for overtaking on country roads.

Has your MPG been improved or has it been Miles Per Grin :D

I'd imagine the MPG wont be that great as you'll tend to use the extra power

Thanks again

I cant say that I noticed a change in MPG to be honest. Figures dont mean a great deal as every set of rollers will give you a slightly different figure, IIRC mine made 179BHP on superchips rollers.

What about the more important torque increase ?

Does it feel as refined or is there a more pronounced kick ?

Cheers

It was something like 400Nm after re-mapping.

It drives the same as it always did, just pulls a bit harder through the gears. Turbo still feels like it cuts in at about the same RPM.

It certainly doesnt transform the car into a rocket ship, but it is a nice noticeable increase. Especially when overtaking at 60-80mph.

I70 should be fine and i have no issue with remaps but people tend to go for 200 bhp and thats when the clutch plate collapses, but its down to the driver as well as there has been an increase in b7 clutch wear which makes it awkward to point out to the driver sometimes that they are the cause. We in the dealers have a fair bit of referance material on causes of failed clutches and the warranty guide lines are strict.

The figures are what I can expect ( dont give a toss about 200 bhp though)

2.0 TDi 138bhp 236 torques after 185 / 310

Gotta ask the question. Is the Clutch (centre and cover) the same on a 140 and 170? (TDI) if so a remap wont make any difference if you are going for the 170 option remap... will it?

Also whats the general response for a failed clutch (judderr or slip) on a low milage say 20K/2 year old car from Audi?

The 240 mm diameter plate is used for 140 and 170 bhp.The answer to your second question can only be answered by your dealer, not me
