View Full Version : Question Climatronic changed, still no a/c

Hi,

I recently had a problem with my Golf where a cup of drink leaked from the cup holder into the stereo and climate panel (yes, clever I know!) and both stopped working properly. So, the stereo was an easy replacement and the climatronic carried on working, kind of. It would either work 100% normal, or all of a sudden blow at full speed whenever it wanted to. When it worked as normal, all A/C etc would work correctly, blowing hot and cold.

I've replaced the unit several times via eBay since then and none of which seem to work. I've now finally got a Climatronic unit with the same part number as the original but the A/C clutch does not kick in for cold air. Everything works fine with the auto temperature, just no compressor.

I've had about three units which do the same and I can't believe all of them are faulty? Is there anything that would mean none of these replacements would blow the cold A/C? If I put the original unit back in, it works/doesn't work as it has been so I know the fuses/fans/clutch are all ok.

Lee.

Sometimes they might need coding with VAG-COM

I thought that may be the case, thanks. Is this easily done with VAG-COM?

Yes its quite straightforward.

I've noticed quite a few VAG-COM cables and software for sale on eBay for about £15, would this do the job I was after or should I think twice about these purchases?

Thanks...

Personally I would never go near one of these cheapo jobs - They arent original Ross-Tech (the makers of VAGCOM) products. Some people have used them to good effect but I prefer the genuine article. Search the forum for plenty of debate on the subject!
