Just got a Golf 4 1.9 Sdi Estate. (Last VW a 181, for 18yrs, good beast, not sure if I'm moving up in the world!)
Cambelt questions:
About to change it in the next few days (32000 miles but 7-8 years old) Have a kit and new water pump.
How important is checking the timing dynamically afterwards, as the flywheel markings are only lined up by eye, it does seem excessive.
Is there any other tool apart from the VAG-COM set up that can show the timing, and does it work with non turbo engines? The example they show is for a Tdi, mine is an AQM engine, will the software work?
I'd like to get a scan tool that also gives live sensor readings if possible. Not that I know much about these new fangled electronic diesels - hit it with a bigger hammer is my motto - so it will probably also need to display "Ouch!".
Any thoughts?
