There seems to be a boost problem with my passat 1.8t as the boost doesn't always work if say you are in 2nd gear and give it some it will be very flat then change into third and it will go like stink but it seems to be getting worse and doing it more it happens in any gear its almost as if the wastgate is sticking open or something? any ideas anyone?

Could be a failed diverter valve, only £10 ish from a dealer

I'm wondering if it could be to do with the cooling fan as not so long ago the aircon fan was staying on all the time so i disconnected it for a week or so then when reconnecting its back to only coming on when using aircon the boost problem has been there through out though, whats a diverter valve mate?

The valve that holds the boost pressure for the turbo IIRC.
I scanned an Octavia not so long ago which had a similar problem, intermittent boost pressure. Code shown was to do with the Diverter valve (common failure part).
Luckily I had one and we sorted his problem out. All boost pressure returned and car back to normal.

Cheers mate i'll take a look tomorrow i will try and get it plugged in and see if there are any codes too its a wierd problem as if you floor it and there is nothing there then shut off then power again usually it boosts fine.

Well i had it plugged in and it said boost valve open circuit so i took the n75 valve off and give it a good blast with some carb cleaner and replaced it and it worked fine for two weeks then it happened again but this time there is just never any boost so i went to my local scrappie and got another one and put it on and its still the same just no boost at all, i have double checked all the pipes and there are no splits or anything so now i am really stuck, is the diverter valve the same as the n75 or is it a different one?

After a lot of head scratching/stress about what its gonna cost and much tool throwing in anger, and even though i already checked twice i decided to check the wires again that connoct to the n75 valve and when i peeled the rubber sleeve back one of the wires was hanging loose so i got the soldeing iron out and put it all back together and yes massive boost has been resumed, thank **** for that after 11 hours driving yesterday with no boost i was pretty annoyed so now i am very happy.:beerchug:
