Heavy break pedal

Hi All,

I went to use my car the other morning and my break pedal felt really heavy, the breaks were working but it was like a delayed reaction. There was also a strange metal to metal type noise coming from the front of the car when i pressed the breaks.

Since then the breaks have been fine!!

Any advice on what might be wrong??!!
