I'm looking for some advice on some recent service experience I've had.
I had my car serviced and the garage advised me that my nearside tracking control arm needed replacing, as I didn't think the garage had done a particularly good job at servicing my car I took it to another garage (Mr Clutch) to have the work done. £130 and a new traking control arm later I thought that the problem had been fixed.
Within a week the car felt a bit washy at the front end so I put it up on a friends ramp and discovered that the lower suspension arm was very worn. So I took it back to the garage that replaced the tracking control arm and asked them to replace the suspension arm. Another £125 and a lower suspension arm later, I picked the car up. I asked the mechanic if he'd had any problems setting up the suspension system and he said that everything was ok and there was no adjustments neccesary.
When I got home I noticed that the nearside wheel was not in line with the offside wheel, so I phoned the garage and said that the tracking was out and needed realigning. I was advised that the garage did not have any tracking / aligning equipment and that I'd need to take my car to another garage to get the tracking done.:aargh4:
I have now written to the garage complaining of the service I have recieved and voiced my concern that they could undertake work on a tracking control arm and suspension setup when they don't have the right tools to check their work. Am I right in thinking that these guys are a bunch of cowboys, or am I expecting too much??
Any advice/opinions would be welcome as I am currently very miffed.
thanks
