Happened to mine too - Avant. Needed a new amp in the boot. The rear washer leaks from somewhere around there and the water had damaged the amp. Hope this is some help. Good luck :o

I saw an amp for an avant on ebay last week - went for about £30 I think. I'd look there but may be worth getting an electrician to confirm that;s what's wrong... Don't think Bose ones will fit without changing the speakers but not sure. Good luck

Exactly the same thing happened to my saloon. New amp from Audi solved it. About 100 quid tho. If you've already located the rear amp the part number should be on that. Can't remember it off the top of my head.

You cant fit the BOSE amp without also changing all of the speakers.

Did the rear speakers work prior to fitting the glovebox CD changer??
Are you sure the Amp has died??

An external CD changer shares the same plug as the rear amp for BOSE and non-BOSE systems. Its the long 20-pin connector labelled as "I" on the back of the Radio.
FYI:
Pins 1 to 6 are the AMP feed signals (pre-amp out & switching voltage)
Pins 7 & 12 are CanBUS H/L signals
Pins 10,13 to 20 are CD changer signals
Pins 8/9/11 not used

What connection are you using to the CD changer and has this broke into the signal feeds ?
Quick check remove CD changer connections and revert to pre-CD changer configuration.

Hi, I have just bought a 2003 S4 and there is nothing coming from the sub in the shelf - it's going back in to Audi to get fixed so I will give an update when I get it back.

Hi mate, I've noticed this is an old posting. I've recently aquired a A4 2.5 V6 Tdi with a huge spec inc multi CD in the headunit and Bose speakers in all doors, plus a centre speaker in dash and the sub in the rear shelf. Are all cars fitted with this amp that I've seen mentioned a number of times? I'm only asking, because I thought the sound from the rear lacked some punch, although the quality is good.
