Open Faulty Rear Door?

TDi 130 sport estate 02 plate

I've trawled the forums till my eyes went square but can't find what I need to know.
The rear offside passenger door will not open. Window works, rest of locking works, tried the fuse 14 trick but for whatever reason the actuator wont operate to release the lock.

How do you

1) Get the thing open when the button and lever just spring back into place?
2) Remove the door lining from a closed door without trashing it? (Leather trim)

Any ideas before I roll over and visit the dealer?
