Hi,

I have a issue that has shown during the last two time I have completely fuelled the car (filled until the pump clicks). Within minutes of fueling there is a smell of fuel and on inspection fuel drips (only a light drip) and pools under the fuel tank when stationary. I should say this occurs when the car is started (fuel lines under pressure) and also when the engine is off.

The 'leak' stops after about 60 miles when the fuel tank is less full. I'm thinking it is something to do with a dump system if the tank is overfuelled but if anyone can offer some explanation that would be great. I should say the car is a 1.8 T 2000 and have done some 185k miles.

Thanks,

Scuba:confused:

i believe they have an internal fuel pump in the tank that is accessed through an opening in the top of the tank.
i would think that this seal is leaking.

stewy.

Thanks for the info Stewy, I will check it out. Hopefully it is easy to access.
