Over the last 6 months my A4 developed a really super annoying rattle in the drivers door. It was so bad you could control it using the accelerator pedal. Press the pedal to move the car forward it would rattle, then release the pedal to enduce engine breaking and it would go again!
I took off the inner door panel which was surprisingly easy and thought I found the cause of the problem (a very squeaky, noisey connector to the switch that turns off the internal alarm sensors. I secured this fairly well so it would't move any more. I also noticed that some of the plastic spring clips were broken, so I glued them back together and used them again.
At first I was utterly delighted! The noise had gone. But now it's back! Any ideas?
I did thnk about taking the panel off again, installing new retaining clips, lubing up the mating surfaces with silicone lube. Not sure this will work though.
