View Full Version : Question Remote Central Locking Retrofit

Hi,
I have just bought a '97 A4 Avant without remote central locking. From what I've gathered from the sticky, I'll require a new central locking pump to get remote central locking. I currently have a 8LO xxx xxx A type pump.

I currently have three keys (one plastic), only one of which disables the immobiliser (sometimes). So my current plan is to buy two flip keys from ebay and a 8LO xxx xxx B (or above) type central locking pump (probably from breakers yard or ebay).

I believe I have a 'static code' type immobiliser.

I'm assuming once I have the new pump and keys, I can use a VAG-COM to enable the remote central locking and sync the new keys.

So my questions are:
How much is it to get the flip keys cut?

If I get a VAG-COM can I enable the new keys to disable the immobiliser (I have a 1 letter and 6 digit code that came with the keys but no spare transponders) or will I have to go to Audi / Autolocksmiths for that?

Can anyone recommend a Autolocksmith in the west midlands?

EDIT: Will all 4D0 837 231x keys be compatible, or do I need a specific suffix?

Many Thanks,
Tom

ok, first you will need an 8L0 'g' pump (dont use any other, esp. 'h' pump as it isnt remote pump)

then the fobs, you want part no. 4d0 837 231 you will be able to sync them to pump to lock/unlock yourself

i used a guy on ebay for the keys, he cuts them from a photo and gives you code number in case you need anymore cut, cost about £7 each

you need four digit skc to code keys into immobilizer, if you live in staffordshire try cooldiagnostics.co.uk charges £40 to code all keys + £5 each if any of the immobiliser capsules need replacing (common problem with ebay key fobs)

hope this helps, converted my last A4 but did cost £200+ in the end and range is very poor with remote

Thanks for your help.
Just one quick question, as I don't have the 4 digit skc does this mean that cooldiagnotics will be unable to code my new keys, or can they clone my existing key? (I live in Shropshire so they sound ideal).
I think I'm just going to get the new keys at the moment, and wait and see if I can find a central locking pump on the cheap from a breakers.

Thanks again

they read the skc direct from cluster through obd port, then use vag-com to code them in, he'll give you code so you can add more keys yourself if you have access to vag-com
