Hi just wanting some advice i bought a a4 1.8t sport quattro cabrio 54plate
from audi leeds when ever i drive it i get differant power delivery from traffic lights etc set off goes fine pull up at the next set set off and seems like ive left hand brake on a notch it seems better if i but my foot down in a high gear and let the engine labour i dont always hear the turbo is this normal?? i took it to audi they put it on diagnostics they say its fine
but im not convinced ive never had a turbo car or 4wd car so not sure what to expect but thought it would have a bit of go in it.so my question is im i expecting something they just dont have or does anyone think somthing is wrong and i should go back to audi have them look again
any help/ advice would be helpfull

Hi, My 54 1.8T Cab, does the same, it somtimes feels underpowered and I assumed this was just the weight, but every now and again, very rarely I do get a burst of power I can feel.

So i'd be keen to know how a 1.8T should feel, before I go back to Leeds Audi...

That sounds just like mine and i bought it from leeds audi
iv'e taken it back they say everything is as it should be i find it goes better
if i give it a good thrashing then AFTER ive thrashed it it seems better for a while but like you i thought it;s how they are but would like a go in another
iv'e been told to re-mapp it iv'e been in touch with blue chip performance and they will re map for£275 but the car has 163bhp i think as standard so
would of thought that would be enough but maybe it's power to weight ratio if you have any joy please let me know and i'l do the same
as this is getting to me now

My brother has an older '99 1.8t quattro. He had similar low power symptoms. It turned out to be a problem with the wiring to the boost control valve. I'm not sure if it showed up on a fault code scan or not?
