I keep reading about failure of the dual mass flywheel on the diesel Passat. How much of a problem is this and what does it cost to fix?

Cheers

it's an item that wears gradually over the lifetime of any Tdi, be it a passat, golf or any other models.

usual price for a new flywheel and clutch, including labour is usually £7/800+ dependant on the model.

So it's not a sudden failure which would leave one stranded.

At what sort of mileage would it be needed? ( Depends on drivers I guess)

I am thinking of buying a Passat diesel and see some problems listed,
(catalytic converter?) but then I guess all makes have issues

Thanks for this.

there is a conversion kit to change from a duel mass to a normal clutch and fly wheel for around £300 on ebay
