cant afford a remap yet,,,has anyone tried these

as the remap is way off yet was looking at these on fleabay for my 1.9tdi,just wondered if anyone had any experiences of them and could they do more damage than good...???

always a bit weary of just plugging some bit of kit in that messes with the ecu.

mate I'd be honest with you I personally wouldn't touch it. If it seems to good to be true then it usually is.

What your paying for is probs just a resistor in a box.

thanks for the replies,,,,,as i thought it cant be up to much for 30 quid and also like i said not keen on plugging stuff 'in-line' where it shouldnt be.....

looks like trying to raise some funds for a remap........anyone want to buy a kidney or maybe a limb...:biglaugh::biglaugh:


anyone got any rough prices or what they were charged for a remap...

what would be a sensible amount of bhp to add

Go for a proper TÜV approved plug in tuning box rather than a remap, even though they cost more in some cases.

Crasher why do you reckon a plug in tuning box is better than a remap?

I'm looking at getting one my self (a remap that is) and the bhp and torque figures are quite a bit higher than for a tuning box. For my 115 bora they quotes bhp 158 and torque 389nm compared to 143bhp and 340 nm for a tuning box. the two companies I've looked at are DTUK for the tuning box and supertuning for the remap. Approx £50 differrence in price with the tuning box being of higher cost. Obviously wanting the best for my money what do you reckon are the pro's and cons of both tuning box and remap?

Personally yes, you would not believe the trouble remapped TDI’s have caused me when trying to diagnose a running problem.
