hey y'all,
some info required if possible.on checking my spare wheel for the first time (only took me 5 months) i found a polystyrene insert that sits inside the wheel.it looks as though there should be some tools or something in there as it is moulded to suggest this.just wondered, has the previous owner kept hold of some accessories or was it fitted as standard but the missing contents were optional extras when the car was new?any info greatly appreciated
thanks in advance, kip
Take a pic and post it here, then we can tell you if anything is missing !

HI KIP,
Just had a look at my a4 avant 1.9tdi 2002. The insert has two moulded shapes in it . One looks like detachable tow hook , don` know about the other.

If you can take a photo that would be great..
From memory... this is what is in mine..
Wheel brace,
Front tow hook,
Screw driver
Plastic clip to remove alloy wheel bolt covers.
Metal clip to remove caps on alloys.
And i think thats about it...
Cheers

Hi,
Polystyrene.... are you reffering to the polystyrene which sits on the top of space savers spares?? if so .. i do not have this... I have 2 black plastic cases, one which houses the tools and one which houses the jack..
These case clip into either side of the spare wheel in the boot..
I have a full size alloy in mine.. currently a 235/45/17.. and the tool kits either side..
(I WILL GO OUT SIDE NOW TO POST A PHOTO OF MINE... SO YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!)
Below is a photo of my boot tool kit..

Hi Rick, my avant has a full size spare wheel , the boot area looks the same as yours, but has the polystyrene insert inside the wheel as mentioned earlier, as i said earlier one slot looks like its for a tow hook, the other i don`t know.

Hi..
Well you should have the towing "hook" .. if its not there.. its missing.. (the towing hook should be the same for all VW and Audis.. so ebay will be a good start if you dont have one
It would be good to see a photo of yours as i thought they were the same till 2005..
Cheers

Hi RICK, Me thinks we are getting our lines crossed here, by tow hook i am refering to a detachable tow bar not the screw in towing eye.
