Ok thanks for picking this up all. Problems relate to my dads TDi 130 2001 Passat.

Heres a run down of the problems

When starting the engine from cold and applying full steering either way the engine cuts out and miss fires but will immediately return to normal if the steering input is reduced. The red warning triangle is also displayed at the same time.

The other issue is something to do with the brakes upon pressing the brake pedal a strange electrical grinding/buzzing sort of sound is heard and also felt through the brake pedal, the sound gets very loud and the brakes do not seem to work. Having checked the brakes themselves all disks and pads have plenty of life left on them. Again red warning triangle is flashing.

And the third and most dangerous issue is something all together different when in gear and rolling along without actually pressing the accelerator pedal the red warning triangle is repeatedly flashing and the engine power surges. If at that point the car is put into neutral the engine immediately revs wildly and approached the red line point at around 4000rpm. The ony way to stop that happening is to briefly turn off the ignition.

Any ideas anyone has would be most welcomed and appreciated.

Many thanks.

Hi I think you need a fault code read on the brake system

brake servo leaking or full of water , take a look under the black plastic cover where the servo is and check for water and blockage in the drain hole. - purely an idea , not the solution. :biglaugh:
