Hi all,

I just had my aircon fixed on my 2000 TDi, only to discover that when its in use, water appears on the carpet on the passengers side. I can confirm that the water is from the top of the aircon drip pipe. Can anyone advise how to unblock this pipe, I have tried pushing a wire down from the top, but it won't go far enough. I have looked under the car, but can't find the other end.

Thanks:zx11:

is there a small piece of spounge just above the carpet halfway down the drain pipe?.this sits where the two pipes join.if you pull it up carefully a welding rod is able to pushed down the lower of the tubes.if you put your arm behind the wheel you should be able to feel where it comes out of the drain.mine was blocked up with crap and the rubber was pushed up inside.if it still spits a tiny amount of water onto the carpet when all the drains are clear some blu tac in the gap where the two pipes meet in the car will sort this.i tried this as a temp measure but has worked a treat.hpoe this helps.

Ok I managed to sort this out.

I tried in vain to push a wire down the top of the pipe, but it just got stuck, and would not clear the blockage, so I tried it from the other end.

From under the car

I removed the rear splash panel from under the car
removed the nuts from around the sound proofing and heat shield
from the passenger side I pull the sound proofing away, slightly.
looking up I could just about see the rubber seal.
As soon as I touched the seal water started dripping out.
I cleaned round the rubber seal, and made sure it could open up.
Then put all the parts back.
Now just waiting for a warm day to use the air con again.

Thanks to kenny for providing me with the diagrams too.
