Comes on from time to time but only under heavy acceleration it seems.

Had new alternator fitted about 3 months ago, but maybe its just a coincidence that it only started to happen after i had the engine bay cleaned !!

Checked connections on alternator and the belt seems tense enough.

V5 W reg. Anyone got any ideas or help please ???

Search ! ! !

Plenty of posts

Alternator pulley.

Thats how mine started. High revs out of a corner. Then OK for weeks, then again on high revs, from corner. couple of times, same week. Next came the knocking at low revs.
Seems to start about 90-95K Lasts maybe a few weeks, or so, before the pulley separates. If it does that, Tow job.

Other things, belt tensioner. Steering.

Steering ??

You mean about the PAS working of the belt, or not if the belt goes ?

And would a new alternator NOT come with a new pulley ?

Pulley looks as new as the alternator, ie same colour silver. No movement at all in it.

Any other ideas anyone ??

Put a small screwdriver in the alternator cooling fins with the belt off if you can turn the pulley anti clockwise while the fins are locked its ok otherwise its goosed

Alternator pack in already, back to the garage that fitted it to replace it.
