A4 Rear Wiper problem (2007)

My A4 Avant (2007) has developed a fault with the rear wiper:

The steering column switch fails to operate the wiper, except for advancing it just a few degrees of arc. It then sits tight where it finished up. Also, independant of the switch, the wiper moves on a few degrees when I switch the ignition on.

The washer pump and switch work fine.

Mysterious. My Haynes doesn't deal with the Avant rear wipe system. Does anyone know if the rear wipe system uses a relay, if so which one? Or do we suspect the motor?

Hi, I've just had the same prob with my 97 Avant. I had to replace the wiper motor (£30 from a breaker). Very straightforward job. There is no relay for the rear wiper on 97 models. Hope this helps.
