hi
im looking into buying a 2000 to 2003 Estate probably with the 1.8T 20V motor
Is there anything to look out for
been a freelander driver for a 1.5 years and it killed my wallet
any help grately appreciated

Main thing to check is nearside front and rear footwells. There is a bad design which allows water from the bulkhead into the cabin. If it is damp long enough it will damage the comfort module which is situated under the carpet in the front passenger footwell. To replace it is expensive, and a car with this problem should be left alone.

It affects amongst other things the alarm. I would try out electric windows, indicators in fact most electrical switches :beerchug:

Hiya, i have a 52 1.8 20V turbo tiptronic & it loves to drink fuel, got 430 miles out of a full tank on motorway averaging 60mph, Around town i average 27 mpg with a very light foot, also from next year the tax will be £415 a year.:aargh4:

thanks :D gone for w reg 1.8T think that avoids the new tax system and seems dry everything works fingers crossed it stays that way.
looking at getting it serviced its done 100k what do you recommend
