Product for cleaning chrome on SE?

Does anyone know if the chrome trim is safe to clean with these 'metal cleaner' products you see in the likes of halfords? They say they should not be used on chrome coated plastic. Anyone know if they are safe or know of any other product i could use to polish up the chrome trim?

It says in the manual you can if normal cleaning doesn't remove stains. It says use a chrome cleaner, but under no circumstances use an abrasive cleaner.

I use Mer and it works fine.

Plus, if you get it on the paintwork you only get a shine and a bit more protection.
