handbrake button

the handbrake release button has fallen off .
there is a broken piece of moulding where the chrome button should fit but VW will only sell a complete handbrake assy for £45
anybody know if its a pain to fit ?
or should I try to glue it back ( I never have much luck in glueing plastics )
