Imagine you wer an mp sitting on £60g plus and the second house allowance (don't forget that nice we earner) you need to generate more money from the motorist. How you gonna do it I know those people who drive older motors they should pay more that means it won't affect me or any of my cronies who earn way to much to drive an older car that was a good days work for me me me a don't think I will be voting labour matey........................Cheers:zx11:

Not if it is older than 2001, my 3.0L V8 is the same cost as your diesel, oh and it has no cats so I get to pump lots of stuff other than simple C02 into the atmosphere :p:D
Seriously it is now going to make older cars more sought after :beerchug:

Yup. Cheap little cars for the plebs & only the well off can choose whether they want a car with more performance. It'll be ever more apparent who's got the dosh & who hasn't!
This is going to give the performance classics market a bit of a boost thus making the most polluting cars ever more desirable & keep them on the road for longer! Bunch of 'swear'heads!
I bet your grooving-horse wagon will go up in value! ;)

Mine goes from £195.00 to £285 next year then a nice friendly jump to £440.00 in 2010.
But with 'Gordy the Super' in charge and badger running the economy we will all be so well off by then, we will hardly notice it. :crying:

The fact you have it LPG does that not give any concessions?

Without the LPG it is £210.00 (£15 off for LPG) and £300.00 next year with £455.00 in 2010.
So, my £2,115 (inc. vat ) conversion charge will be paid back in a mere 141 years.
Ok I save on fuel too ;)
I had a look at the print out of the MOT test and there is some Co2 but nothing else. All the polutants are zero.

Problem being the taxation is nothing to do with the environment it is all too do with making governments money

Yup. They'll be taxing shoes next, there's a great source of revenue to be had from all those walkers! (on top of the VAT, just like fuel!!) :boggled:

Well... They all want us to quit smoking and because a pack if fags is so expensive nowadays a lot of people actually did... Then they said you can't smoke in pubs and restaurants anymore so a lot of people that still smoke don't go as often anymore. Does that mean that non smokers are visiting pubs and restaurants more now...? Now it doesn't... So take into account all the tax that the government is loosing on the reduced sales of drinks. then there is the tax on petrol prices, etc...
Turns out that everything that is so called bad for us are the highest income earners for the government. If we would all start living healthy, walk, cycle, don't drink any alcohol, etc... the government would go bankrupt in no time...

Yup. When people say that smokers shouldn't be treated on the NHS they can 'swear' off because smoker's have contributed way more in tax than non-smokers!
I'm not promoting smoking, just don't like some self-righteous, knee-jerk reactionary 'swear' preaching without looking at facts & figures!
Of course if that tax was actually spent on things like hospitals instead of fighting America's wars when they're more than capable of doing that on their own then the people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland would be better off & hundreds of families wouldn't be grieving. Iraq is so much better since Saddam was ousted, isn't it?? :aargh4:
