map sensor problem

hello guys and girls

i have a 1995 audi a4 2.6 v6 quattro , having tickover probs , had it on the diagnostics which say its the map sensor , so went and bought one , but can't find where it goes , spoke to 2 people 1 says it built into the ECU and the other says its on the inlet manifold ................ pls help i've looking for it all day

On the ABC engine the intake manifold pressure sender G71 is (in engine control unit)Possible effects fault code 0059
Idling speed not stable
- Load change jolt
- Poor throttle response
- Jolting Fault remedy Replace engine control unit

so is it a new ecu then ?

If the code was

“00519 Intake manifold pressure sender -G71 Short circuit to earth, Open circuit / short to positive”

then yes, you need a new ECU.

not seen any codes , do they come up on the dash ?

No they don’t. You said you had it in for diagnostics, which is when they would have read the code. Didn’t they give you a printed report?

got it sorted thanks , it was the sensor on top of the air box ,
