A4 Cab 'Econ' button stays on whilst using Climate Control

I have just bought an Audi A4 Cab 1.8T on an '04 plate.
Whilst using the dual climate control the 'econ' button comes on and I can't turn it off.
I have noticed that if I just turn the ignition key on the 'econ' button is not lit, but as soon as I turn the engine over it comes on.
Can anyone help. Is this normal? :confused:

I'm booked in to have this and a service done later in the week - will update you with my fault and the fix

a few other people have had similar issues with the econ button, with different ways of curing it. maybe a vagcom scan might shed some light on the actual problem before you start just replacing bits.

take it for a gas recharge,audis go to eco mode when they are low on gas

Thats correct - same thing was happening to our Allroad... Theres basically no gas in the Aircon and it needs re-gasing. Don't be surprised if theres a leak somewhere in the aircon as this may be why it now needs charging.

Shouldn't cost too much either way. I think a recharge is about £60. If theres a leak they will recharge it with a ultraviolet dye and ask you to come back to check where its leaking from.
