I am wondering if the MPG I am getting off my 2003 A6 Avant is right. The engine is a 1.8T AWT unit and is has done 87k. The computer is reading an average of 32.6mpg overall. Unlike my old Octavia the trip computer can't do individual trip calculations so my manual calculations are indicating a figure of about 30mpg for a steady 70-80mph motorway run. I am sure this is not correct as I would expect at least 35mpg +. What do other people's 1.8T units give them? Is there any way of tweaking the mpg by using a VAG-COM?

That does sound a bit low. You should be looking at nearer 50 mpg (if not more) at a steady 70 mph. I can eek out over 60 mpg at a steady 60 in my A4 1.8T, town driving obviously fluctuates quite a lot depending on conditions.

I seem to be averaging about 400-430 miles from a fill up from near empty (approx 60 litres). I do get the instantaneous economy to be around 60mpg sometimes but is the average figure about right for the car?

Actually I think that's about right, mine's not far off that. Yes, I meant to say the average figures will be less than 60 mpg! Still not bad for a petrol!

Doesn't sound far off to me. I have the BFB 1.8T in my A4, which has similar (but slightly better) economy figures to your car, and I get around 30 mpg on a combined run (actual, not DIS). According to the Audi figures I should be getting 34 mpg combined, but I've never achieved this - wondered if it might be due to my 19" rims...?
