Are you getting the figures quoted for your car ?
I'd like to see people posting the MPG they are getting ?
Ive created a website which documents alot of common cars supposed MPG figures from the manufacturer. See www.whatMPG.co.uk
post back on here what your getting compated with the stated
Ive got a Audi a4 1.9tdi (90bhp) and am acheiving 48MPG , i do quick long
runs 55 miles each way each day, but this is still less than what it should be
i think ?

Hi every one, this says the combined MPG of the Bora is 51... i find mine to be more like 38 - 43 with a mix of motorway and town driving. . .
Does anybody get more mpg from their 130? i dont drive it too hard... but feel I have to drive like my nan to get above 50 odd mpg ...
Thanks

God your not getting very good economy at all, that equate to the worst of figures.
my a4 post below the combined but much better than the worst figure quoted..
whats those bora's like to drive i though of getting one, they are much cheaper to buy
than the audi a4's and its the same engine in them.

The Bora's are REALLY nice to drive, and mine is the Highline so it has full leather, cruise, parking sensors, 6cd, 6 speed gear box, elec everything and iv also put 18'' RS8 alloys on it so it looks great and drives really nice.
The turbo sounds different on mine to my friends bora, but my local audi specialist says there are 3 makes of turbo on these and its luck of the draw which you have.. there is Garret, and 2 others which i cant remember the names of. I'm unsure which mine is , but i would deffo say the best of the 3 (touch wood). It whistles really loud bu nice, and the waste gate sounds great and at low revs (parking up etc) the waste gate / turbo etc chatters... which turns heads :):)
i would reccomend a Bora ... i thought of an A4 but went for the Bora ... so..
Thanks for the reply!

:)) of course because the harder you work the engine, eg. up the hill or heavy pushing then more fuel is eaten :P

Passat 2.0S 130 petrol.
Not sure what the official figures are but mixed to motorway drive (mainly to work and supermarket :D) 30mpg in the winter and around 32 in the summer. That was when I last checked doing a fill to fill. The trip puter says about 33 tops this time of year.

I think thats quite good for a 2.0L petrol ... my mums got a 1.8 volvo S40 (auto :aargh4:) and it gets about 26 mpg combined lol
I'v started thinking of maybe get rid of the diesels and go for Gas converted VR6's . .. :biglaugh:
This way, we can still eat the fuel and enjoy perfomance, while still returning 40 mpg!! (equivelant)
Good idea i reckon :p

Thinking on from this idea... how does a 2.8 V6 (LPG ofcourse) Bora 4-mo sound?

this is what i have copied but what i get is a lot lower
urban 40.9 shown,me 37mpg
extra urban 64.2,me 48mpg
combined 53.3,me somewhere in between
my extra urban figure is cruising at 65mph

i think wiv VW / Audi etc, the performance figures are lower than they actually are and the fuel efficiency is optomistic ... lol
Ive got an A4 1.9TDI Quattro with an AFN engine ('96) and it does 53mpg normally and can get 68 - 72mpg if I try an maintain a constant throttle (still at 60 tho). Thats not motorway work tho as I live out in the country... Im 17 as well so i dont hang around too much (school run is 17 miles in 19mins with 2 miles town work!)

Audi A4 1.9 TDi 110bhp B5, 1998.
Petro Diesel.
I'm getting a total MPG of 48mpg, best figure so far was last week when a relaxed motorway drive gave me 300 miles at 59.66mpg.
Total (i.e. since I bought it at 89k) is at 48mpg instead of over 51mpg because I was driving with a split in the turbo activation tube. Now covered with heat shink and vasaline, mpg back up to about 50-55 a tank.
I'm paying £185 per year road tax, whereas a car getting that mpg that is four years newer would only pay £120 per year road tax. Brown/Darling, thanks mates.

Hello all, I just managed to get over the 600 miles on a full tank, about 640 on the trip counter.
I got this out of my 2000 (W) A4 1.9 TDI 115PD, I've got to admit that I didn't really boot it, just taking it steady between 50 &70, I suppose my journey to work helped a bit, a 50 mile round trip with the car in 5th most of the way, I noticed the MPG creeping up since I had the engine rebuilt & a new Turbo fitted back last September, so this might have something to do with it, I've noticed on this forum that a lot of you are getting pretty crap MPG's from your Bora's & A4's, even from day 1 when I bought it with 105000 on the clock I was getting nearly 48 mpg.
Even with the full tank I put in the other day, it's looking like I'm gonna break the 600 again.

Aww...now I just feel bad :(
I get 24.3 on combined....about 30 on motorway and I dare not look round town....and I thought only the S cars were this bad.... I have about 7 years of data, it's never varied that much, points that show up when I graph the data...old/new tyres, lead up to service and just after for a short time....summer over winter....
Miles to a tank...if I get past 310 I'm happy enough....

Ive had my Audi A4 1.9 Tdi (110bhp i think) but i tend to average between 59-62 MPG. I dont floor it as theres no need to, the drive is amazing but the power is there when i need it. I have been thinking about remapping to 130 but im not sure whether its a good or a bad thing
I do more urban miles city which may determine why i get a better consumption. My Audi has definitely been the best buy!
Does anyone use Shell vPower Diesel and noticed an improvement in driving or a big hole in their wallet :biglaugh:

Just bought a '97 A4 TDi Quattro Avant which has averaged over 58.4mpg on a run from Norwich -> Newhaven and Le Havre -> Lorient. 10 days' running around ickle French roads, and a return journey. Car has a recorded 145000 miles and needs a thorough service.
I'm sure it could be better - over 60mpg - if a tip-toed everywhere.

Mine seems to be about the same as what is quoted. I'm getting 25mpg round town and about 35 combined. Not bad really as the car is in desperate need of a service and also has a flat spot between 3000 - 4000 rpm.
BTW, mine is a 95/96 A4 1.8.

My Audi 1.9TDi just completed its first run on a full tank and averaged 54mpg so slightly higher than Audis figures however....
My astra convertible 1.8 2003 at best returns 32mpg if you gun it with the roof down I get about 22mpg! Now thats crap!

50+ seems reasonable to expect from a 1.9TDi - I'm currently getting around 50mpg on my daily commute. It's about 7.5 miles, some slow urban crawl, some open country roads.

For a 2001 A4 2.5 TDi Quattro Sport Avant (150PS), I'm averaging 42-44mpg which I think is pretty good for a V6.
Remember it's about the way you drive - progressive accelleration, not pedal to the metal, cruise under 60mpg in 5/6th gear, and anticipate braking, not slam on the anchors last minute! Then there's the condition of your engine, regularly serviced with air and oil changes, and tyre pressures at correct PSi. Hell I sound like Victor Meldrew!:aargh4:
Driving from Glasgow to the South coast with the computer displaying an average speed of 70mph, my A4 TDI is returning 48-50 mpg.
I feel this is pretty good.

Well my MPG is not too good but thats due to my driving style - i'm looking at around 17-18mpg. However, one thing I will say is that when I drive her hard she delivers a far better mpg? So, as far as my car is concerned, if i want better fuel economy I have to trash it it bits!
A4 1.9 tdi 115 averages 57.3 at present. It was a little better with previous tyres. This is not m/way driving but fairly mixed with regular rural 46mile round trip to work. It drops a bit if I tow!

Audi 2001 1.9tdi 115 (B5 shape)
About 45mpg general use
About 50 mpg at 70/80mph on the motorway
topped 61.5 ona very gentle 60mph motorway trip.
County lanes at about 40-50mph give the most mpgs!!!
