Touran -sticky central locking problem

Hi, one of the rear doors on my touran is failing to unlock. It started off just sticky and took a couple of goes to unlock, however now it seems to be stuck locked :( - I can hear the mecanism trying, but failing to unlock the door which can't be opened now in any way. I'm guessing I' won't be able to get the pannels off to sort this out without unlocking the door first

So two questions realy:

1- any suggestions on ways to "encourage" it to unlock?
2- if / when I do get the I do get it open does anyone know what I need to do to stop it sticking, I've previously tried wd40 into the lock, which didn't seemt o make any difference.

OK, further to this I now have the door unlocked by whacking the handle with my palm whilst unlocking. However my second question still holds, how do I get to the bit that's sticking?

Hi, Did you make any progress. I'm having the same intermittent problem

WD40, bashing and pocking the mechanism all entirely failed to affect this issue. I did try to get into the door mechanism myself but you need special star shaped sockets which I don't have (they like to make it difficult these days)

So, I eventually ended up taking this to the garage (I used local friendly garage rather than dealer). It turned out to be a problem with the lock/catch unit which needed replacing. Something about a part with several pieces of metal laminated together which were coming apart and sticking.

By the time I got round to doing this the problem had unfortunately gone from intermittent to firmly stuck locked which added to the labour costs getting into it and also meant they slightly damaged the inner trim getting the door apart. On mine this was very, very slight but apparently this could have been a lot worse so I would definitely recommend getting this sorted while it still opens (nb, pumping the inner door handle whilst unlocking seemed the best way to get it open while it still would).

In the end it cost me £200 - £80 part, £100 ish labour , plus VAT.
