Hi,

I thought i’d offer a little write-up after receiving the 2 x ST3 units from Mark at Chip-N-Spin.

Firstly I have to say Mark is extremely helpful, he was even texting me information before I received the units which in my opinion goes well above and beyond the call of duty. It’s very hard to find good customer service in the UK and Chip-n-Spin are definitely an exception, full credit to them.

I ordered the units for the following cars:

2007 Golf GTI (200hp) DSG (my mates)
2008 Golf GT TDI (170) - mine

We remapped my mates GTI today as I’m not sure if I am replacing the GT next week.

The unit is delivered in a nice little box which includes a USB cable, software and the cable to connect the ST3 to the car. Next steps were:

1. Install the software on your PC (I used XP but the instructions show it works with vista too).
2. Then you take the unit to the car (no pc required), plug into the cable in the cars port (mine was under the steering wheel) and read the cars OEM map.
3. Take the unit to your PC and download the map to email to Chipped UK
4. Decide what maps you want (Econ, Fast, Race, Road)
5. Email original file with 2 requests and they send the maps back to you (the maps took around 30 mins to arrive). We spoke to Chipped UK who said they would recommend the Economy and Fast maps as the car has a DSG box, don’t ask me why.
6. Once the maps were received we uploaded the fast map and away we went.

My mate said the car suffered badly before the map with turbo lag, the remap has sorted this right out. Driving the car after the map produces what can only be described as a ‘punch’ from take off rather than a build up of power. I even noticed this myself and I don’t really drive the car.

In addition gear changes do not happen as quickly as previously which results in the car seeming to be considerably more responsive than before. My friend identified on several occasions where the car was in 4th instead on usually being in 6th. He is very happy with the remap.

Everytime he comes back to the office he has a massive smile on his face J

Thanks to Mark for all his excellent service.

:biglaugh: I mapped my 07 GTI DSG lastweek, I got the Econ and Fast Road map on the ST3.
Have to add, I also suffered a very slow kickdown on the DSG before the map, it was so slow I took the car back to the dealers complaining about it. It eered to the point of dangerous, driving from sliproads into high speed traffic, the car would only change down 2 seconds later.

I have only installed the Econ map so far, and it's enough for me at the moment, it's transformed the shift and the power is much more linear and smooth.

Big thumbsup to ChippedUK, just hope they can sort out the flash counter on the ECU.

What MPG are you getting from the econ remap now in comparison from before?

My mate get 30mpg on the race map when he's gunning it. 33mpg when he is tottering about.

Thats great economy in my opinion, quick car now with the map.
