so after some fault codes, it seems the general concensus is that my throttle body needs a good clean, and wondered if anyone can recommend a decent and readily available one?
also, is it better to take the TB off the car to clean it, ir can it be done whil still on the car, if i just remove the pipes etc?
(i have vagcom to do TBA after cleaning)
thanks
Just use an aerosol carb cleaner.
And yes, you should remove it from the car to clean as you don't want the poo going into the engine.
Also do a search on here for "throttle body alignment" as it is good practice to have this carried out after cleaning.

i went to halford last night and bought some of THIS (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_20 2903_langId_-1_CarSelectorCatalogId__CarSelectorGroupId__varien t__categoryId_58757_crumb__parentcategoryrn_58757) from halfords.
I took the pipe off the valve intake and it looked like it had been sprayed with something before, as there was a puzzling fluid in there (not a lot, but looked and smelled a little like wd40+a bit of oil). now im guessing these components should be dry inside. so i will dry the lot properly when i can.
gonna take it off and sort it at the weekend when the engine is cold. it was pretty warm after driving home last night.
thanks guys :)
