Evening all,

I'm currently experiencing some problems with my A3 1.8 Turbo. When accelerating from low speeds or even mid range rpms often there is a nearly total loss of power and the car only accelerates slowly even with my foot firmly down. I can here the turbo wheezing away as normal but there's just nothing coming from the engine. Then as if by magic everything is suddenly working perfectly again, responsive with plenty of power. I've read a lot on the forums which leads me to think it could possibly be a failing MAF?

I'm based in Horwich, Lancashire and would like ot find a local indi to take a look but they seem a bit thin on the ground.

If it is the MAF then that's easy enough to sort out myself but it's the diagnosis I'm struggling with.

Any help/advise would be most welcome.

Thanks

All sorted. After a hard few hundred yards of driving yesterday morning I pulled over and disconnected the MAF. Instantly everything was better again. I went straight to my local GSF and purchased a replacement MAF for £68 in total. They took my old one in exchange for £25. After re-connecting everything my A3 is running perfectly again.
