Hi. I have searched through the forum about induction kits and most people seem to be negative towards them because they suck in warm air. Most of the ones i have seen have an intake pipe that attach to the front of the car to take in cold air. Having said that, from the pics i have seen i am not sure how the air is supposed to flow through the filter as it seems to sit away from where the air flows from the intake pipe.

Surely more free flowing cold air is going to improve combustion?

I am intrigued to hear about more detailed positive or negative opinions about these mods.

Thanks

Hello mate, ive just fitted a k&n 57i kit to my 1.9tdi and its totally fine. very difficult to determine wether it actually gives more power. The kit comes with a cold air pipe which you run from the bottom of the front bumber and it directs the air right onto the air filter. Seems like a good kit to me. + you get the nice turbo suction noise.

In a stock TDI it's not the quantity of air that's limiting power but the amount of fuel being injected into the engine. A diesel will always run with a massive amount of excess air and just a bit of fuel. By injecting more fuel you get alot more power, like with a PSI tuning box, but if you just add more air to an already "lean" system you won't get any extra power.

I wouldn't put a K&N into a TDI because their filters need oil to work properly and oil and a TDI MAF just don't match. An oily MAF works just as well as a flat tyre => not at all!

Just my 2 cents worth...
