indicator problem, help-please.

hi, i have a 2.6 -98 audi A4,my problem being,i can be driving along,sometime my indicators work, then all of a sudden,i go to use them again, they are not working at all, .i pull over turn the engine off,wait a few seconds,switch the engine back on or twice,hey presto, they work again, this occurs for the hazzard swith aswell, this i8s beccoming a major driving problem, can anyone help please, regards,colin.

Sounds like a dry solder joint in the control unit rather than the stalk switch if the hazards are affected too. These seem common in relays and control units these days. They are easy to fix if you can trace it, follow the ticking til you find the unit and open it up they are easier to see than you may think and easy to repair if you have a soldering iron.
