Noisy Rear end under hard acceleration

Hello I just got my 1999 audi a4 on the road. I am hearing some noise comming from the rear end when I accelerate hard. It sounds like a clunking or grinding noise. There is no noise when I am at crusing speeds. Any Ideas. Thanks

Is that a quattro ? If it is, i would say noisy diff, if its FWD then bearings or rear axle bushes.

Got he same problem mate, its doing my head in. ive got a 1.9tdi 1998. someone else said rear bushes. ive had nothing but trouble since lowering the thing.:zx11:

Sounds more like exhaust contacting body or suspension to me, mine used to do this when cold til it expanded on heating. don't forget exhaust moves quite a bit with engine under load so may not be visible at rest so look for signs of chaffing on body/suspension.
