Hopefully anyone wanted to change thier Concert tape system to a CD might find this useful.
I noticed on here a few people have swapped thier concert systems from the standard Tape/Radio to Radio/CD and on a few threads noted that there are issues with some radios that will not switch off on the ignition.
I had the same problem I have a B6 A4 and swapped the unit with a CD Concert system out of an Audi A3 bought on eBay the first thing i noticed was that it wasnt such a flush fit, there was a small gap at the top and no chrome strip, however after some jigging managed to fit it so it looked ok, and popped in the code and away we went, however there were a few issues, firstly the radio would not turn on and off when using the ignition, secondly i had no radio display on the dashboard computer and lastly after an hour on the move the radio would power off.
Whay was this happeing? well it was because ther is a slight difference in model number when replacing take care, the one that fitted my A4 and worked perfectly was model number 8E0 035 186D the unit i used that i had the problems with was from an A3 model number 8P0 035 186 C.
So buyers beware what you buy, on eBay etc.. some are listed as fitting various models this is not the case. Your player will fit of a fashion and will work but with the problems listed above.
