Hi,
I just thought I'd mention to you guys a few things I noticed with my A3 recently. I had a wheel bearing on it's way out and it was BAD. It rumbled like hell and gave me a headache after driving it. I had less then 25mpg from a 1.6 engine, and the car wandered on it's own over the road. It pulled away very slowly and felt resistant to everything. I had no idea what was wrong with my car when it had never acted like this before.
I had the wheel bearing replaced from my local Mech after Audi tried to rip me off telling me it was the differential... and WOW. I now have my MPG at over 40, my car only wanders whilst driving when there's a steep camber, or when it's windy! It feels a lot nippier, and I have no headache!!
If anyone has these problems it might be an idea to check your wheel bearings. As I'm not a mechanic I had no idea this would affect the car so much! I am truly amazed. My car is like new and the only problem I've noticed now is a rattling handbrake button! :beerchug:
My wheel bearing started to go around 65,000 miles and I had it replaced at almost 73,000 miles.
Hopefully this is a heads up for you guys if you have some of these symptoms and Audi are trying to screw you... :biglaugh:
