Hi,

I've been doing some research into Coil Packs after realising (for some unknown reason) that I have BMW Coil Packs fitted to my Golf 1.8T.

Does anyone know if this part was revised at all? Because there's been some mention of recalls, etc, and I wouldn't want to go ahead with purchase if there has been a revised part?

The part number I get is 06B 905 115E. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Also...does anyone know where I might be able to purchase these from for cheap? I'm a bit wary of aftermarket parts.

Thanks again

06B 905 115 E is for an ARZ, AUM, AUQ etc, 058 905 105 is for an AGU.

Hello again!

Is this the part for a 3 pin or 4 pin connector?

Thanks again

That's the one!!!

Thanks for that!

From VW they're £33.45 each!!!!

Dyou know of anywhere I could get them from for cheaper????

Someone mentioned the "Beru" ones, or other aftermarket ones. Are they any good? Or would you stay clear?

Thanks

Actually £39.30 inc VAT. They are available from BBT, Beru, Bosch, Bremi, ERA, Facet, Hella, Herth & Buss, Hoffeer, Kager, Lucas, Mapco, Meat & Doria, Meyle, Standard and Vemo.

Beru make good parts, I like their plugs.

Are they the same price though?

If there's little cost difference, i'd stick with the VW ones, but for a set of four...if there was a decent difference...i'd definately consider them.

Would these also be listed under the same part number?

Cheers!

The Beru number is 00401000116, Bosch is 0 986 221 011 and Hella is 5DA 749 475-121. If you see one of the other makes, tell me and I will give you the number

I've found some online...

Audi VW A4 A6 S4 Passat Ignition Coils 99 00 01 02 03 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Audi-VW-A4-A6-S4-Passat-Ignition-Coils-99-00-01-02-03_W0QQitemZ350060953406QQihZ022QQcategoryZ33689QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/uk/s.gif

...and they say they're original OEM parts (058905105's)... but it looks too good to be true. And too cheap to be true too!! What do you think crasher??

If these are so readily available at cheaper prices outside of the UK, I wonder why folk aren't buying them up, selling them on for more reasonable prices...and making a **** load of money??? It makes me suspicious. If this were the case, there would be more of them available in the UK. Either people are missing a trick...or there's a good reason why this isn't happening.

Thanks

When they say OEM they mean the company that makes these a parts is an Original Equipment Manufacturer so at worst that could mean they make an obscure part for some car manufacturer or other, not that they make these coil packs for line fitment on VAG cars. If I knew the make I could tell you more but by the fact they are quite consciously hiding the make it is suspicious. The reason people aren’t selling these is that type don’t fail any where near as often as the later type which are half the price even genuine. Personally, I have a big problem with fleaBay even though we are selling on there now, if you can’t beat them…

Ah right. I thought "OEM" was a manufacturer. lol.

So basically...these aren't an original part...they're an aftermarket. That being the case...I've gone right off the idea! I thought I was on to a winner there!

I think the conclusion i've come to after much scouring of the net is that for any of the reputable parts (058905105's, Beru, Bosch and Hella) you're looking at roughly £30 to £40 each. And as much as I was trying to find a cheap alternative..I'd much prefer to pay a little more in order to avoid cheap tat.

That being the case...i think i'll just have to put up with being 10-15hp down until i've got the money to purchase the proper ones.

Thanks again

Do you actually have a misfire?

Well i've currently got BMW coilpacks fitted for some reason...and after my remap...it's holding the car back slightly (according to ChippedUK anyway). I've had this coil pack "mapped around" - however they've still said that by fitting the VW coilpack i'll get a bit of extra power. its 190/195, and like u said, it should be about 205.

So between the BMW coilpack and a weak forge dv spring, i'm losing about 10/15bhp.

Cheers!

I can’t see the coil packs loosing you power unless you have a misfire.

Hmmm.

This is so hard. Everyone tells you someting different!

ChippedUK seem to think i'd gain a bit of power 'mid-range' by replacing the BMWs i have now with the VWs.

I've order them anyway, so come the weekend, i'll be able to let you know! (Hopefully). Knowing my luck though, they'll be some problem or sumat...just you watch!

Thanks
