Does anyone know how to make the 2 end lights on the 3rd brake light stay on, i have seen other golf with the 2 ends on with the side lights and then go bright when they brake, so was wondering how this is done, i know i can make the ends light by removing the brake light bulbs in the clusters, but is there any other way of doing this ie lower resistance bulbs.....

The car is a mk4 golf gttdi 150bhp 2002 model.

Thanks, reading this post alerted me to what was wrong with my 1.6se mark 4 auto.
I had gone as far as replacing the brake light switch when all along the whole problem with APC light and service engine along with the motor cutting out while driving has been down to the computer being tricked by blown bulbs.

I really would never have found out what was wrong without this forum.

It got me reminising days spent taking carburettors apart with pliers and blunt screw drivers. when I was younger with better eyesight you could hold a brass jet up to a torch and see easily what was wrong with your sports cars engine.
Now it seems the answers all simply on the internet.
But I do understand that the dedication and generously supplied postings by so many of you forum contributors that have tonight saved me a couple of hundred quid

Thanks.
