for my VW GOLF MK4 1.6
right see the preety blue lights on the dash...
on sunday for some reason when i on the headlights, the dash is ment to lights up...
but this time it stoped coming on...
ive checked every single fuse...an nope non of them are dead...
i remeber that day my mate was playing wid the old tape player on my car, i told him not to bother touching it cuz the basebox is not connected wid that junk...
an i remember that the tape player also lights up wid the dashbord...but i think my mate had shorted the wire or somthing...while pressin that...
anyone have any idea...what mights be the problem...i hope i dont need to just go to the garage to get my dashbord opend and just new bulbs...
its really hard driving at nights...cant see nothing inside...
cheers...

from what i can gather, your 'mate' has tinkered with the head unit and now the dash lights don't work.
I'd say it's a blown fuse or a shorted/comprimised wire...
get your mate back round to look at what he did and tell him to fix it
:approve:

nope no luck....the fuse is fine...unless? is there any hidden fuse in the golf?
apart from the main fuse box were its on the side of the stearing wheel next to the drivers door?
damnnnnn this fings gonna stress me out all this week...
should i open the tape player an remove the wires...
(i knew there was no point keepin that old thing)
i cross wired the new sony player wid the old tape player..cuz i wanted to have both of them aswell...so i had to cut betweens the old tape player wires...an connect the new one it aswell...im just wondering did that effect the dashbored wire..cuz i know defo fact the tape player lights up when the dashbord comes on..once i activate the headlights...

I'm struggling to understand all your cuz's and defo's, could you please type in full english....
am I right in thinking, you've cross-wired 2 seperate head units into your car?
I'm not sure how you've done that, but I'm almost certain, you shouldn't have.
the fact you've cut wires and joined them together...
I'm not 'up' on car audio installs, but I'm pretty certain you're going to have to pull one out and sort out that wiring now

lol....yeh i get that alot...my grammer is not all that good.
okay, my uncle just asked me, ''were is the relay''
im not sure what that even is?
i asked him is it the fuse box...he said no, not the fuse box the relay box...
(somthing about a box for intigators, hazords and dashbord whatever)
have you got any idea what that is? or ever know were its located in the car?
edit...
woohooo..just fixed it... yeh i was right after all... :)
the problem was located on the tape player wires...
i just opend it..and then just touched the wire..an it came back on...
it only happend when you connect a new car system....wid sub woofer...
becuase you will have to cross wire....and the end result is...dashbord lights might be effected...

I'm struggling to understand your post a bit because it appears to be a mixture of textspeak mixed in with another language which I think might be english but... from what you seem to be describing, you had cross wired your tape player, if you love your motor which it sounds like you do, you're skating on really thin ice from an electrical overload viewpoint.
You're extremely lucky not to have had a fire, I suggest you keep your mate away from your wiring as he appears not to have a grasp of why fuses are fitted in a circuit and how they protect the equipment connected to them.
Get your wiring checked over by a competent person before you have your own mobile barbecue!;)
good luck
