[Audi a4 2003 b6] Factory fitted chorus radio without bose unit installed.
I have upgraded my radio and discovered that there was no ignition wire, then found out it was within the canbus. I took a feed from the fuse box to get around this.
Now... when the ignition is on the radio works fine, when the ignition off the radio switches off BUT the factory fitted radio only switched off when i removed the key from the barrel.
Question - is there a wire i can tap into to enable this feature? Whereby the radio will only turn off when the key is REMOVED from the barrel. I have uploaded a picture hoping that someone would be able to tell me if any of these wires would work?
thank you
Not cheap but :approve:http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_product.php?partno=CTAADCAN001 wires wont work!

The OEM RADIO loom as an Ignition wire in there.. I think its blue OR WHITE..
Get a multimeter on it and trace it.. - it will be dead when keys removed and around 12V when ignition turned on.

Rick - I disagree - last two B6's I worked on both of which were 2004's had no switched live in the loom.
Had to take from fusebox.
As for the original question, not sure where the key inserted feed is poresented, you could take a splice off the ign barrel switched live - and use this to toggle a relay fed 12v.

Agreed, no ignition live at the rear of the radio in a B6/B7. This information is passed to the radio via CAN. Fusebox is probably the easiest place to tap a wire for ignition.

Hi, yeah i think the ignition is on the CAN. I have already tapped into the fuse box for ignition.
I was wondering if anyone has heard of the 75x post being used as the switched/ignition feed?

There isnt one of those on my B7 but in a B6 that will be fine for ignition live.

In regards to an ignation switch on a B6 on the Radio loom..
Below is a picture off my Chours Radio and a picture off the Concert Radio i fitted a blue tooth car kit in today..
I took the ignation switch from the WHITE wire in the loom.. see the pic below, its the one with the "switch" icon on the label..
I checked this when the car is off and its dead, onces the ignation barell is turned is 12v..

Rick, does the white wire remain high when the radio is off?
That pin looks like amplifier remote to me - which would require the stereo to be on, and that requires the can messageing of ignition activation in the first place.
Simple way to test would be to measure it with the plug disconnected and toggle ignition - does wire switch if removed from head unit?

Hi,
when i checked this... The white wire was 0.00V when the ignation was off... once ignation is on its 12v......
I have put it back together now and it works perfect...

A real simple test would be next time you enter car, before inserting key in ignition, turn the stereo on.
I believe this will activate your bluetooth kit - and would confirm this as being a head unit switched live - which is not depepndant upon igntion being activated.
Thjis would therefore be of no use when replacing head unit to a non CAN variant.

Ah, now i think i get it.....
The white wire only becomes live BECAUSE of the OEM stereo.....

Cheers for this Post guys ... It really helped me out ....
What happened was : I bought an A4 1.8T (2004) about 2 years ago.
Previous owner had an Audio 2000 carkit installed .... one of those with the cradle that the mobile fits into ... its wired through the stereo / speakers ... charges phone and has a mic installed by the interior lights / mutes radio / sound through the speakers etc ...
Worked great .... but with these cradle carkits you are stuck with phones that only fit the cradle ... So I bought an adapter which you replace the cradle with ... the adapter is a bluetooth upgrade (http://www.fwd-online.de/content_manager/page.php?ID=27948) ...
so I replaced the cradle with this ... Then I saw the problem ... With the Bluetooth adapter the damn thing would not turn off ... Even with no key in the ignition the thing would stay on ... and it had no power button ... Reason I never noticed this issue with the cradle was because you dont realise it still has power after you remove your phone when getting out of the car ... So after pulling the radio out I noticed that the person that installed it had wired the carkit 12V+ and the carkit wire for 12V switched ignition sense both to the 12V+ on the stereo ....
After reading this thread I saw the solution - to detach the 12V switched ignition sense from 12V+ and attach it to the white cable (switched 12V) ...
And it works perfect now .... So Cheers Alot ....

Sounds like the HU is connected to a permanent live rather than an ignition live
