Good evening-
I have just committed to buy an Audi A4 from within our family ,it is being offered at a good price .The car is in very good condition.
It is an 02 i.9tdi 130 sport estate ,this is the first Audi I have ever had , my previous car was a volvo 850 2.5 litre petrol with an lpg conversion ,which I have had for 6 years and was trouble free 60,000 miles ,smooth and very comfortable .i tow a small light caravan and wonder how the A4 will compare ,and what type of potential problems I might be letting myself in for.
The A4 has aprox 55,000 miles and has been looked after buy a main dealer .
Any comments welcome --have I done the right thing?

Hello and Welcome to the forum!

The 1.9 130 will be fine from the towing aspect, my father has a 1.9TDi A4 - 130bhp Quatrro which he uses for towing their caravan, a Baily Pageant lux and he has no issues, plenty of torque there for the towing..

The Cam Belt and water pump are due at 60k miles and this will cost around £400 to do from a dealer..

Cheers

Rick

As Rick says, ensure the timing belt is changed along with tensioners and water pump at 60k or 4 years whichever comes first.

I read on the forum many months ago that the 130 1.9 TDI was the best for towing a caravan, better than the 2.5 TDI because of the different power bands and stuff. Looks like you made a good choice. :beerchug: Welcome to the Audi family.
