I just did an oil change on my 2004 Audi A4 2.5 TDi Quattro Tiptronic.
Having warmed the engine, I first removed the oil filler cap, then
removed the drain plug in the sump. Between 4 and 5 litres of oil
drained out. I also removed the filter, and left the system to drain
for a couple of hours.
I then replaced the sump plug, fitted a new oil filter, then re-filled
with 4 litres of Shell Helix Ultra 5W 40.
On checking the dipstick level, it looks like I have over-filled. I
have since driven around 200 miles, but the dipstick still shows the
same apparent high level. The manual says that the capacity after an
oil and filter change is around 5 litres, so I'd wouldn't expect 4
litres to be a problem. The car runs fine, no obvious problems, has
anyone any ideas what, if anything, is wrong ?
