Hi all,

Hoping you can give me some advice. I have been to see an Audi A4 2.0 auto on a 51 plate today. Everything was fine with the car and it comes with a good spec.

I have one major worry though before I put down a deposit. When test driving the car I noticed that there was a slight hesitation/judder as I pulled away from standstill. It was almost as if the car was mis-firing. But then once i got to a normal speed it went away. This continuously happened and the person who owns the car said it has always been the case. Can anyone advise me on whether this is indicative of a auto box failure or is it something more subtle. If it is the auto box can anyone tell me how much the problem would cost to rectify at an independant?

Thanks in advance. I will await your responses before taking the plunge!!;)

It could be an issue with a coil pack which is mis-firing to cause that intial loss of power or it could be the gearbox which is on its way out...

Gearbox with set you back around £600 at least to get sorted..

If i was you... get test driving a few more before buying..

Rick,

Thanks for the reply. I am also suspecting the multitronic box. I have read on the forum about the input shaft/7 plate clutch issue. Are we talking about the same problem here ??
