They are cream crackered from careless driving by the mrs although she is at a loss as to how or when she has done them in! I know it's not me and well, we all know what women are like ;) no disrespect to any ladies on here.. but, well... i'm right :D
Anyhow, they are being done tomorrow and what with having had all the dents and dings done she is finally getting the attention she needs after a neglected period of having 2 kids in 2 years and no time to care for her!!! the car that is, not the mrs!
Now, the bloke doing them said i can have a different colour or shade done, i'm not so sure i want that, probably just have them done the same as they are. Any thoughts on this..?? You can see the wheels i have from my avatar, i was quite surprised to see them on a 07 model, thought they would have changed the design by now

i think you can still get those alloys as standard on the sport model a4 cabriolet (cos it hasnt had the facelift yet)
imho, keep them the same colour. black/different colour alloys rarely work on black/dark colour cars.

I agree, keep them standard.
A mate of mine had a tint put on his when they were refurbed but the tint was 100% evenly applied which ruined the look of them slightly.

Yeah, cheers fellas, your line of thinking is the same as mine, i'll defo keep 'em standard ;)
Paying £200 all in, a fair price i think?
Might post some before and after pics

I would stick with the same colours...
£50 a wheel sounds ok to me... i looked at doing mine, however i want to change my wheels so its not worth it..

I had the same problem of the Mrs. not knowing how a huge scrape appeared on the kerb-side alloy!!!! She obviously didn't have her hands on the wheel at that point ;)... I had them refurbed and was amazed at the job done just like new and cheaper than buying a new one from VW..(£145) Would do it again.. not sure on the colour change, thats upto you mate.

All done, took around 5 hours all in, very pleased. I'm sure you will agree they needed doing! No point putting every wheel up so i put the worst one up, he even sorted my centre cap out.
Please excuse the tyres, they really are quite awful, cheap and cheerful and NOISY!!!

Cheers. If only!!! she has to take the kids to child care every other day so no chance of that :p Plus i wouldn't have been able to afford the car if it wasn't for her job :D
She has had her warning though, i'll be :zx11::mad: if anything appears
I asked the guy if he new anyone who did heavy duty polishing and he gave me a number so that's next on my list, want to brighten her up a bit

How exactly did they do it ? Do they remove the wheel and clean the inside edge aswell ?
Reason I ask is that one of the tyres on the A3 deflates itself over the period of a week. I took the car back to where the tyres were fitted, when they removed the tyre the inside edge of the rim was corroded, so the tyre can't form a perfect seal against the edge of the wheel. I have had plenty of tyres fitted by these people so I've no reason to question what they have said.

I think it depends on who does the refurb and how much you are willing to pay.
The refurb companies that come to your house probably just knock any corrosion off and give the wheel afresh lick of paint.
Whereas other companies actually sand blast the entire wheel, weld areas where a chunk has been taken out and powdercoat them.

I've noticed he or maybe the garage i took it to recently have taken off my bolt caps (like protectors) and put them in my boot space. Should these go back on or are they not essential, i only ask because they are black (ish) and are a bit knackered!

Can you believe this? Took my car up to the local garage to have new front pads put on. Gets it home and i notice a big dig in the front right alloy and scratches to the left and also those poxy guns they use have scratched the alloy tunnel towards the bolts.
That was the third time i've had it up there for pads as the others were squeeking and i just thought i'd give up and live with it. But then it started to make me :zx11: and sick at the thought of shelling £200 out for nice alloys for some div to ruin them so i rang them back up and blasted the geezer. Taking it back in the morning for him to look at damage and take it from there, i'm not leaving until i get at least £50 back for the damage.
Spoke to my wheel bloke who said he maybe able to repair it without doing the whole wheel. This is typical of my luck and typical of people not being able to do a simple job without cocking it up
I've just cleaned them up and there are various minor scratches mainly where they have used the gun but the 2 digs in the attached pic is my main concern. You can see other digs and scratches where they have used the gun. Would you lot have complained or am i over reacting?

I would have complained, as long as you are 100% totally convinced they were not there before. It could be difficult to prove.

Well, i had them refurbed just last week and have the bill to prove it. It is clearly not a curb job and no stone is going to hit twice in the same spot plus you can see the other damage they have caused using the bolt gun which isn't evident on the back ones. A pretty strong case imo dont you agree? I am 100% sure it wasn't there before, it even crossed my mind to say be careful with my wheels they have just been done but i thought i would sound like a deeek, how wrong i was! will let you know how it goes....

Go for it. Might stop them being so careless in future.

Took it up there this morning, main geezer comes out has a look, ums and arrs over it, gets the geezer who did it, umms and arrs says he dont lay em flat down, i repeat it wasn't there when it was brought in show him bill for refurb last week, said its gonna cost £40 to repair, umms and arrs gives me £40 ;)
No apology though but i wasn't going to haggle for that :D

well done Jon. so infuriating that some (and i stress SOME) garages dont take the necessary care with other people's stuff.
glad you got compensated :)

Good result mate!
I've had my newly refurbed alloys scratched before (when I got the tyres put back on after the refurb) so I know how annoying it is.

Yeah, i dont think they were to happy so i'm not taking it back there for them to get there £40 back out of me by shafting me on something :D. Will have to find another garage, a shame, as that one is walking distance for me. Perhaps i'll get the mrs to take it in, they might not remember the car but they will remember me!
