Hi Guys,
I'm converting from a beemer to an Audi A4 2001 2.0 Sport and was wondering if any owers can tell me a few things.
1. It doesn't have a CD Changer but I have one spare. Are they pre-wired for a changer in the boot?
2. What realistic MPG figures do you get?
3. Any known problems I should be looking out for on a 2001 with 69,000 on the clock?
Another thing, is it possible to find out the MPG? I cycled through the computer options but didn't see anything like MPG. The garage said that you can't find that out from the computer. There's no button on any steering wheel stalks. I can see the number of miles left in the tank and the temp as i'm driving?
Any help appreciated! Looking forward to p/x'in my beemer!
Cheers guys,
Andy

some are prewired up to the glovebox thats where they live in a4
if u havent got a button on end of stalk righthand side stalk then you havent got a computer
as for mpg iv never had a 2.0 before
to fit changer into glovebox you need a diff glovebox with slot for it if wire isnt there u can get them from fleabay

Great, thanks. I would have thought a computer was standard on these.

The Sport comes wit the basic comp as standard with miles left in tank and the check funcation.. no MPG etc..
The SE came with the multi trip computer onboard.
2.0.. You will get around 28-32MPG from it..
I have got a 2.0 and had it for around 4 years now... its not a bad engine and does what it needs to do giving 130BHP unless you go for a FSI @ 150BHP.
If i was you.. after owning one.. try and look for a 1.9TDI 130 diesel.... dont get me wrong.. the 2.0 is fine.. but the mpg return poor with the fuel costs..
I get around 50 miles for a tenner around town... on a motorway run i can pull 500 miles off a tank at an average speed of around 70mph.. -- or 350 miles if heavy...
ps.. it has a 75 litre ffuel tank

I have been given the impression that it is the same actual computer on both, but that for some (unfathomable) reason, some basic models (Sport - basic!?) don't have the multifunction controls. Apparently if you replace the wiper stalk with one that has the switches then you can get the computer reprogrammed to work with it (although the main dealer I asked about this wouldn't do it). I recently bought a 1.8 T Sport and was amazed to discover it didn't have the multifunction control - my mate who went for the Skoda rather that the Audi found it particularly amusing since his Octavia does...

It was an extra option on the Sport.. the sport aint basic inside compared to the SE...
if anything... the sport has a nicer feel to the inside, and the lower springs on the outside..
Im luckly.. that i have a few extras on mind which were non standard..

On the B6 chassis to get the fully functioning DIS you need the wiper stalk changed to one with the buttons on it & you also have to change a control module inside the steering column which needs programming to the car so the ECU can talk to it. For about £250 you can buy the control module, new wiper stalk, cruise control stalk & pay for a garage to code the control module for you! Considering thats less than either DIS or cruise control cost as a new optional extra its a bargain really!
To be really annoying the B7 chassis already had the control module you need fitted as standard so they can have cruise control & DIS added for about £100!!

Thanks - that is what I was hoping. I have just emailed APS and Hazzydayz for quotes to fit the lot.

I'm trying to figure out how to install the cd changer. I've got a sony cdx-t67 which i took out of my bmw. Any ideas where this needs to go? I'm hearing different reports about where it goes - some say boot and other say the glove box.
Are there any guides on how to do this on an A4 B6? I've seen loads on different versions.
