Brocken lumber support

Righty then as Im 6 foot 6 taxi driver and I have the seat quite far back and another big ****** got in and sat right behind me and stuck his knees into the back of my seat and after he got out a wile later and a lot of journeys I got got but as I did so I hard a crack and my electric lumber support seems to of broken off the bracket or something because it doesn't come out as far now:(.
How can I fix this.

Mind played up after this..

If you remove the rear plactic cover... (becareful, its held on with plactic clips) you can see the internals and should be able to see what is working or not working...

ps..... just thinking.... mine is electric lumbar support.... so it maybe different..

Iv had a little go at trying to pull the cover off from the bottom but as I do this I can hear a ripping or tearing so I stop before I damage it, should I just keep pulling or is there a certain way it should be done.

i just pulled mine and broke the clips got them from audi was only a few quid

So took the back of and it was broke in there same place but instead of replacing it I bent the broken bar that was still connected to the lumber mechanism back towards the rear of the car then jammed it at the bottom of the seat and all's fain at the mo, woo hoo.

P.S there is a way off getting the back off without braking the clips as described in the link.

Don't suppose there's a part number for this clip? I asked at my local dealer whose only suggestion was to replace with an entire seat back!

Oh and has anyone bought a new lumbar support unit - are they pricey?

Thanks - saw the price, but it's in dollars. Anyway, I'm on the case with vagparts now, who have already confirmed that the clips can be supplied separately. Dealers eh?

Just thought I'd reply back now I've sorted the problem...woohoo!

I had exactly the same fault as that shown in the link above - the bottom bar had snapped, which consequently snapped the bottom seat back clips.

Picked up the lumbar support mat (8E0881891) for £37.42 + VAT and the bottom clip repair kit (8E0898035) for £8.21 + VAT from my local VAG parts specialist - Sheffield TPS if anyone knows it. The clip repair kit is excellent; metal clips that fix to what's left of the broken clips, an absolute doddle. The tricky bit is removing the old mat and replacing with the new one. Best advice I can give is to follow the link above, which is great, and when it comes to removing the top arms, don't be afraid to use brute force! I messed around for ages with this trying to come up with a clever way of doing it, but there isn't one.

Whilst I was at it, I fitted the ambient lights - the easiest and cheapest mod ever! Instructions can be found here (http://www.harddrive.plus.com/A4Page.htm)

I have a 99 A6 which has had the same problem for the past year or so, I actually find the seat comfortable enough without the lumber support but I would prefer to fix the problem. I have been looking of eBay to try and pick up another seat but don't really want to buy a full interior for the sake of the lumber supprt.

But of course this could be the perfect if it is easy enough to fix ! :beerchug:

I'd imagine it's the same/similar for the A6, but suggest you check with the dealer for part numbers. I wouldn't say it was easy, but not that difficult either, just a fiddly pain in the ***!

Straight from my local Audi parts department - part number is 8E0 919 063 A and cost about a tenner. Can't go wrong at that.
