:confused:Hi Guys, driving along in 6th at about 70,got caught up in traffic, dropped to 5th and gave it some power, all of a sudden it was like being hit up the rear, car lost all power, dashboard lit up,message "take to service",leaving the glow plug on light flashing, car was now in limp home mode. On stopping and restarting was a temporary cure, until you dropped a gear and powered up again.Car has been with Advantage VW Stirling for 10 days, various test plans from VW technical Germany, failed to sort problem, now they have fitted a new turbo, is this common, have checked forum, have found other members with the glow plug lamp flashing, but no turbo problems!!

My passat tdi 140se bought new last Nov went "bang" at 720 miles at 40mph in 4th:biglaugh:
revs went thru the roof-I found myself accelerating twds rear of truck in front very rapidly. Managed to stop and I was taken back to dealer by tow truck.
The Tow truck man said it was turbo.
Garage said Air mass meter had failed-I said I didn't care what it was and I wouldn't take car back.
Long and the short of it was they rebuilt engine????:aargh4: and their tech had exactly the same thing happen:)
I held out for a new car-saying I thought that my original one was not safe, and under the sale of goods act was "not fit for purpose".
Garage agreed with me;) and I finally got a new car in March: They gave me loan cars to keep me mobile and were generally quite good.
At 6500k it may be worth your while trying the same approach.
Good luck

Rebuilt the engine? I would be asking for a refund or a new car...
