Underside sealant

Had my gttdi in the air during the week and couldnt help but notice that the underside had a black sealant covering it. Kinda like silocone. Im living in Ireland and the car is a UK import. Is this standard on all UK cars or just the last owners prefference?

Yes it's normal, sort of a wax oil with a outer layer that;s a bit thicker.
